It was just a couple of days before when the head coach of KXIP confirmed that the Punjab side that they will use Chris Gayle in match 24th against Kolkata Knight Riders, fans were hoping that the ‘Universe Boss’ will finally make his presence felt against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Saturday.
However, the fans were left stunned after KXIP decided to continue with out-of-form Glenn Maxwell, and Chris Gayle continued to warm the bench as he wasn’t named in the playing XI by Punjab’s think tank.

The fans of KXIP aren’t impressed with the decision as even after a series of horror shows in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League, the team decided to give him a chance. On the other hand, Chris Gayle, who is known for his destructive performances, hasn’t appeared in a single match so far.
As Chris Gayle was once again asked to warm the bench, fans of the Universe Boss came out in defense of the Gayle and started a meme fest on social media, trolling Maxwell, who hasn’t been able to live up to his heavy price-tag so far.
Maxwell was bought by KXIP for a whopping INR 10.75 crore at the IPL auction. Infact, his presence in the team was also questioned by Virender Sehwag.

“Don’t know what sort of a platform Glenn Maxwell needs to explode. He came in early (against Sunrisers Hyderabad) after Punjab lost two batsmen quickly. A lot of overs were left this time, but he failed. Earlier, he didn’t have pressure (batting in the death overs in previous matches), yet he got out without performing,” Sehwag had said.
