It must be very annoying for designers who have slaved through four years of college, had a lot of sleepless nights and graduate show related panic attacks to see someone who has no design experience other then having a brilliant stylist jump into their game.
I include a lot of other ''designers'' in this as well who have used their celebrity to get a fashion line : Kanye West, Gwen Stefani, Kate Moss are just a few! I have been surprised by a few - I mean Beth Ditto for Evans was a stroke of genius and lets face it, sometimes L.A.M.B have a good collection but just because you can rock a Tom Ford dress or afford a new Gucci everything does not mean you are going to be an excellent designer.
I will reserve judgment completely until I have seen the line myself but I do find it annoying. There are no more official details concerning the line. If it is going to be high street or if she will be doing 'a Kanye' and jumping straight into one of the fashion weeks.
Grazia.com was full of the praises about the new line and speculated about what it could involve. They had a long list of the recent fashion accomplishments of Rihanna and I have to make the point that - this woman has a stylist. Yes she wears amazing clothes but they are carefully chosen for her by a stylist. Someone who is paid to devise her 'look', who goes out and buys it and then styles it up. Everything you see her in is chosen for her.
I love how celebrities think designing and fashion is such an easy target for a line. It seems everyone is sick of the celebrity perfume and there is no glory in presenting the usual tacky merchandise anymore. So celebrities are jumping on the fashion and beauty line.
