The Vogue editor-in-chief recently hinted that her outfit would feature 'millions of feathers,' and she wasn't joking. The 69-year-old fashion icon wore a flamingo-inspired pink and black feather cape over pink floral beaded gown by Chanel. Meanwhile, Shaffer, 31, was joined by her Italian husband Francesco Carrozzini on the red carpet, where she modeled a sleek black suit adorned with a large red satin rose and matching train. For the occasion, Anna selected a dress from Chanel's Spring Couture 2019 collection, a sartorial homage to Karl Lagerfeld who passed away earlier this year. Anna's pink beaded, two-piece gown perfectly reflected the pink roses-lined staircase at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. She then added a pink feather coat with black feathers lining the hem. A gorgeous spring look... but not exactly in keeping with the night's theme -- camp. We wouldn't expect anything trendy or gimmicky from Anna and we absolutely expected texture, beading and print as is her signature. And she nailed it. However, this news doesn't mean the design houses won't be represented at the Met Gala at all — they may just be planning on a smaller presence. A source with knowledge about the event told DailyMail.com that at least some of the designers named by WWD have purchased tickets to the event, suggesting it is likely that they will dress at least one or two celebrity attendees. In the past, bigger brands like Ralph Lauren and Dior have bought up entire tables and invited several celebrities to sit with them — and, naturally, be dressed by them. For instance, in 2018, Ralph Lauren's guests included Kerry Washington, Priyanka Chopra, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Lily Aldridge, and Shailene Woodley. While she didn't confirm it's by Chanel at the time, she has worn the designer to the Met Gala nearly every single year — with the exception of 2012, when the theme was 'Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations.' The 22-year-old, who has starred in numerous high-fashion campaigns as Natalie, moved from New York to Los Angeles to begin his transition after a decade of struggling with depression, anxiety, and issues with anger. 'It feels like I've been wearing like a mask my whole life,' he told CNN. 'Once I removed that mask, it was like I was finally ... I don't know. I'm not wearing a skin that I don't feel I am anymore.  Transition: Model Nathan Westling, formerly known as Natalie Westling, has come out as a transgender man   Career: When he was still going by Natalie, the 22-year-old model walked the runway for the likes of Marc Jacobs (left) and Louis Vuitton (right) 'I'm not playing a persona; I'm not trying to be something I'm not anymore,' he continued. 'I don't feel like I'm stuck in this weird moment of having to be in-between. Before transitioning, Natalie started modeling at the age of 16 and made her runway debut for Marc Jacobs in 2013. The red-headed catwalk star went on to appear in campaigns for major fashion houses, including Louis Vuitton, Versace, Chanel, and Dior. As Natalie, the model also graced the pages of American Vogue as well as numerous international editions of the famed fashion magazine. Nathan grew up in Scottsdale, Arizona, where he said the residents look at anyone in the LGBTQ community as 'freaks because they're just ignorant' and 'not educated.' He recalled being on the playground in preschool and 'feeling completely out of place' with girls his own age. He said those difference only became more apparent when he went through puberty. After years of receiving treatment and medication for mental health issues, Nathan made the decision last April to address the root of his struggles and begin his transition from female to male.  More himself: Nathan's red curls are now cut short, his voice is deeper, and he has gained about 20 pounds over the past six months. I can't even imagine going back to how I was before because it's just darkness.' Nathan candidly discussed his plans to get top surgery to reconstruct his chest as well as his decision to move back to New York City and continue working as a model. His modeling agency, The Society Management, which looks after Adriana Lima and Kendall Jenner, has already posted his new headshot and changed his name from Natalie to Nathan on its website. He is the only male currently listed on the company's roster. According to CNN, Nathan posed for the cover of a major fashion magazine a week before his interview, though he declined to say which one. 'It's been an incredible journey, it's been an incredible process and I'm just really happy to be on this path — and at such a young age, too,' Nathan said of his transition.
