Why are All Saints stores always so depressing?

There is nothing I hate more then uncomfortable concept stores.

I paid a visit today to the All Saints store in town. I normally like All Saints but never buy their stuff. The reason for this is not the price or the clothing - its because of the stores.

First of all, the stores are incredibly uncomfortable and usually empty. I had to walk through the mens section to reach the tiny women's section at the back. This was normally not an issue but it is when you can't see any women's clothing at all and have to ask. To be fair, the sales assistant was lovely but it was an incredibly uncomfortable experience.

There were about five sales assistants dotted around the shop. I felt as if I was being watched everywhere I went. This made me a bit nervous so I didn't even attempt to try anything on.

Secondly, the store layout was, as with all All Saints stores, chaotic and badly laid out. I couldn't find anything I was looking for and it was badly lit. I don't know why All Saints insist on such bad lighting but the stores are so depressing. I always have this reaction in the stores. I go in with good intentions of buying something and come out wondering how they are still in business. The sales assistants looked bored and the store was completely empty in a really uncomfortable way.

There were a few pieces that I really liked but the layout and the fact that the store had no one else in it made me uncomfortable so I left it.

I've tried the website and I really don't mind it. I find it much easier to navigate! It just seems so weird because I really like the stuff but I hate shopping with them. I have the same issue with Zara - love the website but hate the stores.

Anyone else got some love/hate stores?
