The search for a summer scent......

The search for a summer scent.

I never normally pay much attention to summer/winter cosmetics or perfumes.....until I started to wear actual perfume. I normally just sprayed whatever was close to hand. But having discovered Jo Malone perfumes in recent months, I am all about the summer to winter to summer spritz.

I have been wearing Pomegranate Noir all winter. A deep woody smell which, to me, is THE Jo Malone smell. I had been searching for this smell since I started sniffing Jo Malone but could never find it. I loved how it smelled on other people. When I got a bottle, it took me a while to get used to a non floral scent on myself and I worried it was too deep for me. But seemingly, it was a good smell for Winter.

It's just too harsh for summer.

So I've switched, I'm now wearing English Pear and Freesia perfume also from Jo Malone. It's lighter and more summery. I just love it. I'm not sure how strong the smell actually is as my nose is used to the scent now and doesn't pick it up. Which never happened with my winter smell.

There are a few Jo Malone scents that I like,

English Pear and Freesia
Blackberry and Bay
Pomegranate Noir
Orange Blossom

I am picky about smells - for someone who doesn't care about perfumes! I like something light, floral and pretty. I never write about perfume because I find it boring. I'd much rather write about cosmetics which is visual - its too hard to explain how good something smells over a blog post.

I will say that choosing a Malone smell to suit your skin is a lengthy process. I like to spritz, leave, wear and then see how it fades over the day. If I still like the smell at 5pm like I did at 10am then its a winner. I'll get it. I've had some clangers over the months though - Bluebell and Roses being two. I just cannot smell Bluebell no matter how hard I try!

Anyway, if your near a Jo Malone its worth having a look - try my two and see what you think!
