What I'm wearing... black pants, black and beige print tee and beige sweater. Pretty neutral color palette today...kinda like the weather... boring!
What I'm reading... Last night I finished Millicent Glenn's Last Wish by Tori Whitaker. Millicent Glenn is almost ninety one and this book tells her story in relation to her last wish, her daughter and her granddaughter. She's not dying, but she is in her nineties and she wants some things to be resolved, she wants her story, her whole story to be told. The book is well written and I didn't mind the switches from the here and now back to the past as I usually do. About halfway through the book there is a twist, one I did not see coming. Had me bawling like a baby, it broke my heart. But the book goes on and it had a satisfying ending.
What's happening in my kitchen... let's see... we had a couple of grands for a sleepover last night and they requested bacon and pancakes for breakfast. They left before lunch so hubby and I had ham and cheese sandwiches. For dinner we're each thinking about pouring a bowl of cereal because neither one of us feels like cooking.
What's outside my window... it's rather chilly and dreary, although the sun does peek out every so often. Yesterday my granddaughter helped me pull up the final vegetable garden plants . There are no birds today because we are on strike against the blue jays and refuse to put food in our feeders until they find somewhere else to dine.
What I'm thankful for... getting to spend some time with a couple of grands and after they left, our Virginia grands video chatted with us for a little while. Pretty darn thankful for technology right now.
What I'm smelling... the lingering scent of bacon....
What I'm hearing... Giants are three points ahead of Washington at half time and I'm savoring a lead that I'm pretty sure won't last long. I am a realistic fan...
What I'm crafting... made nine Halloween face masks for our grands and a friend's two grands. Still working on my sweater... I had to rip out another couple of rows. I'm really beginning to think that it will never be finished and I should just give up and knit an afghan instead.
What's on my mind... in my head I'm planning a pre-Halloween family get together. A craft for the grands, a game and dinner for the family and treat bags for all. If I don't write down my ideas I'll lose them.
